Resident's Guide
The Westgate New Residents' Guide is a beginner's guide to life at Westgate. Published annually by the WEC, it attempts to introduce new residents to all of the resources available at Westgate, MIT and throughout Cambridge.
The Resident's Guide is a more thorough guide to life at Westgate and MIT. It includes the information in the New Resident's Guide, along with information useful for all Westgate residents.
Email lists
Westgate maintains the following email lists.
  • westgate-official [at] mit [dot] edu is a list reserved for special notifications from the Westgate House Manager, Program Manager and Graduate Coordinator. These may include notifications of scheduled power outages, water shutoffs, fire alarm tests, and construction. The mit.edu addresses of new residents are automatically subscribed to this list. To add other addresses to the list, use MIT mailman.
  • westgate-activities [at] mit [dot] edu is a list reserved for advertisements for official Westgate or MIT events and activities. The mit.edu addresses of new residents are automatically subscribed to this list. To add other addresses to the list, use MIT mailman.
  • westgate-forum [at] mit [dot] edu is a list for general resident discussion. Any resident may post to it and residents often use it to ask for advice, sell items or advertise events. The mit.edu addresses of new residents are not automatically subscribed to this list. To join, use MIT mailman.
  • westgate-parents [at] mit [dot] edu is a list for parenting related discussion. The mit.edu addresses of new residents are not automatically subscribed to this list. To join, use MIT mailman.
Directions to Westgate
The Westgate high-rise is located at 540 Memorial Drive, Cambridge MA 02139.  Driving and walking directions can be found on Google Maps.  Directions via public transportation can be found using the MBTA trip planner.
